Moon and stars beckoning romance to us
Sweet nothings I whispered into her ear
Our hearts undulating in rhythm with our love
A soft melodic thread weaving so gently,
Shiny brown eyes, flooded with romance
Shining so bright against the flickering candle light
Her well manicured fingers on the crystal glass
Our bodies swaying slowly through the night
A serene river of gold flows through my soul
As I gave into her gentle brown eyes
Our souls moving together in rhythm of our love
As the full moon romanced the cloudless night
Not for a second wanting to leave my lady
Hesitantly I stand and walk to the band
For the song they played us five years ago
I want played on this anniversary night
As I place the tanzanite bracelet on her dainty wrist
A few familiar faces on the way I see
Courtesy being the order I smile and lightly wave
“Hi Stu,” someone drawls, “will you buy me a drink?”
No tonight is our night, just she and I
Walking away quickly I hoped nobody did see
To the band I reach and place my request
Back I walk happily my mission almost complete
Five years its been, with my beautiful gentle wife
The door to her heart she’s always kept it open
Even with my heart and soul always so lame
On top of the world, I dance back to our love seat
Arm in arm we will dance the night away
Dancing with us will the stars in the cloudless night
Dancing my way back two women I see
Sitting with my wife as is they are old buddies
“Make sure he pays you first, gurl“ a heave drawl I overhear
“The s.o.b likes it dirty and freaky but won’t pay!”
“We gotta warn a sista gurl,” the drawler muses to the other.
"Remember with the twins, gurl? He never paid them a dime!"
With laughter they leave, on a clear moonlit night

Talk about skeletons in the closet! Trust an ungrateful man to spoil it for you. This displays tremendous creativity, well done.

This was different from the others but well written and well understood. I felt the passion and the anniversary night was desirable.

Well, I guess true love, when it finally catches up with us, covers over a multitude of faults if it is for real. And depends on whether something is definitely in the past or is instead part of an undisclosed ongoing present reality. But the truth comes up and bites us, whether old bones are slavering flesh, so this is a very poignant and sharply etched scenario you have walked us through here, Sandie. I wonder how many idyllic moments are shattered in this way? Perhaps when situations are emotionally loaded, all other manifestations of deep-seated feelings are stirred round about too, so it is a fascinating picture. Like Nordette, love your new biog collage! Thanks for your good wishes - all is going well, bless you. LOL Kate xx

Hey, Sandie. Was cruising about the Den and signed in to comment on this poem. It's one that I missed. Like Mark indicated, you're slaying me with these suprise endings. LOL. I really enjoyed this read. Made me smile. Like your new pics on your bio page too. ~~Nordette

Wow This is so romantic a beautiful way to spend an anniversary until that surprise ending! A little hint in the middle but never expected it to go any further. An anniversary to never forget what a shame. Cheaters never prosper. Beautiful poem. I love the new photo on your bio You sure are pretty such a beautiful smile.

Somewhere in your dreams
you must have met reality.

Still, those dreams are glowing embers.

Is this written from the male point of view? Is this written from the female perspective? Is she your wife? Dirty deeds done dirt cheap --- did the twin whores not get a dime? The Anniversary Night of what? Great mind bender here, Sandra. A thinking woman's poem!
