I was stationed in Germany and homesick for New England when I wrote this. (1991)
To the sea – To the ever inconsistent sea – do I roam. The attraction is so fascinating it keeps me enthralled. In the waves – In the bold cascades of waves – do I dream. The violence they cause one day bring adventure on another. To the tides – To the ever changing tides – do I wait. Late at night for a full moon late at night for a high tide. In the sea – the ever inconsistent sea – It’s inconsistencies so familiar It’s tides, reefs, shores, so similar, I long for the stability it brings

I fully agree, I can remember dreaming of home and the ocean there in NJ, when I was stationed overseas...I was near the Pacific, but it did not seem like the Atlantic, some difference there was, not sure what, but this poem brought back good memories of that time, as the ocean can bring back the past and give us good thoughts for the future...Peace thru Ocean Meditations, Ed & Rufuz

this is beautiful. i especially like the repetition of sea, waves, tide, sea in first two lines of each stanza - it gives one a feel of standing at the shore.
