Sorry Michael, I think comedy of yesteryears has faded into oblivion accept for baby-boomers and people like yourself and your wife. God doesn't like ugly and we live in a sinful and polluted society! I still say thank God for Jesus and Christ Jesus our Lord or we all would be going straight to hell speedily! Peace!!!

I already mentioned Saturday Night Live. That show has endured the seasons and remains funny. You may think it's too political, but there's much satire for comics in Washington these days. I like smart humor like portrayed on SNL rather than banal slapstick one-liners that most sitcoms indulge in. A friend highly recommended Big Bang Theory, but it's off the air now except on demand or reruns. Left that genre many years ago. I watch history, science, drama and some reality shows that are genuine these days. In the old days as you seem to like so much, many had only one or two channels they could watch and evening shows always contained comedy shows. Now, if you want, you can watch comedy shows 24/7 on cable or the Internet. I thought of watching Last Man Standing, but haven't yet with other priorities.

A good friend's son, Eric Hunter, who bills himself as The Cleanest Comic on the Circuit, has been in the business for many years, making a living but not breaking into television or movies.

Your words sure brought back some fond memories of the family watching some of the shows you mentioned. I did say "family". 'Not too many one can watch as a family today. Sad. Yes, John. Your words ring true!

Off the top of my head I know no newer shows that are even in the least funny. The old comedians, like some you mentioned, were the best, as well as Robin Williams, and all those that used to frequent the Johnny Carson show or the old 3 stooges shorts, I get such a roar out of watching them...-e-

I love all those old ones you've mentioned in your poem, I also love one of the newer comedy "Mrs. Brown's Boys". This show is hilarious and it will make you laugh out loud each time you watch it.
