I wrote this while remembering how much heart can be put into a kiss. It can make the heart sing.It is an expression of love. It brings joy and peace, forgiveness and understanding. It is a tender moment of bliss sometimes long remembered.

Poem Artwork

' 'KISS ME ONCE

AND KISS ME TWICE

AND KISS ME ONCE AGAIN'

I'm back from Iraq, my dear
I'm back at home to stay
With a few brusises here and there
But otherwise feeling good as new
Tell me dear, have you been good?
Have you been true to me?
I went away but you were in my heart each day
If you were not, It will be OK
And I will forgive y ou
I understand how lonely it can be
Now that I'm back, can you love me true ?
with my crippled hand and my lost leg
buried in the sand?
Tho this is missing I am more a man today
then when I left; I was just a boy
Now I am a man and I will take care of you
Hold me tenderly in your arms
I have need of this
Forgive my crying, for they are happy tears
To keep America safe for you
Yes, it was worth all this
I  locked my memories in my heart
And threw away the Key

Reminds me of Ashley when he returned from war and confessed to Scarlet that he had come out of the shell when he heard of the rocket fire and saw people with blood draining from their mouths. this soldier in your poem was a boy when he left for Iraq but now after undergoing all these horrific war scenes he had become a man. he deserves a hug. Let him get it

Reminds me of a favorite song "Dear John". I hope your soldiers get a better homecoming. They deserve it. It is the leaders, those who vote for war who should go there and fight. Bet they are afraid of holding a gun let alone fire it against an enemy. An estimate of 5000 years of man living on this earth and we read nothing but wars and retaliations. Hope Jesus will one day instil love in our hearts. Victor

I do not believe in war at all. There's never any justification for it. Sure. We can come up with a myriad reasons to "take up weapons." God. We've been doing it for so long. Clearly, it's not working. Still. Your poem reminds us of the many who go "to war" to do what they think is right. I respect and have compassion for all of the suffering that's thus brought on. Why do we keep on fighting when we are so useless? We are not even taking care of the home granted to us.

Love and peace,

Regis

For all the boys, now men, who come back, may they get a warm welcome with a kiss and hug. Marguerite
