Some dog can sense trouble before it can be one, maybe they can smell a brewing one...

Poem Artwork

I don't see your mutt running to greet
after you had a bad day on your job,
with a ride from hell on the highway
because of schmucks that cut in front.

A cool beer, a cigar, without no shoes,
with wife and kids going on mute's mode,
rest and peace is the primary wishing,
not a visit from your mother'n law.

Being so clever, yes, all of them are,
he anticipates, your beloved dog,
that you gonna hit the mother ceiling
after coming through that door.

So, he respectfully makes his retreat
because here will be flying a few shoes,
no way of getting a smile for a wag,
better to be scarce, life ain't that long.

Run little dog...run...
and for heaven's sake, duck!!!

poor little guy...they can sense our moods before we say a word. I think it's great when I am sick my Boomer knows, she snuggles with me, if I've had a rough day she likes to lay her head on my lap, if someones speaks in a loud voice she gets in my lap, as if to say this my person! If we target practice...she curls around my feet. Pets are wonderful and very sensative, they have many moods! Boomer is one of my best friends!

hehehehe...this is both funny and spot on...no pun intended.
It reminded me of those years when I was working ten and twelve hour days, six days a week...and the way my dog, Cujo, would watch me from the safty of the landing until he was sure I was okay...and my kids would draw straws to determine who had the onerous task of waking Dad...they did get smart though and always made sure they stuck a cuppa coffee in the door first.
Excellent write here my friend.

This one is so adorable! Different from what you usually write, but I enjoyed reading it just the same. Thanks for this one.

I kept my Dogs in the fenced in back yard
saw them only when I fed them
and guess what?
They were happy to see me
I couldn't stand them,
they belong to the kids
who didn't have time to feed them
so they said

Peace
William

Poor little dog, yes they do sense our moods very well, but still love us anyway, even when we're in a bad mood.

Oh how true is this...Dogs surely do sense the moods as well as the rest of those around you...I always try and make it a point to paint faux ceilings for my mother! LOL!

Georg,

Poignantly sad, in a way--we take our bad days out on the ones we love. Pets, spouses, children...well penned cautionary tail (errr, tale) of learning to control one's temper!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
