I keep a phone with me
24-7
the job
just part of the job
now and again I gotta hook it up
recharge
the cell
I plug it in
and it beeps and says
“battery recharging”
and this little line goes up up up
and starts all over
up up up
kind of like the night
kind of like when I put my head on the pillow
“battery recharging”
and I begin to purge all the activities
all the coulda shouldas didn’t for the day
all the need tos will dos for tomorrow
and then
I sleep
and in that sleep there is bliss
there is recharge
rejuvenate the ole life cell
let it go in sleep bliss
furgeddaboutit all relax
quiet night lights out little line goes up up up
and I sleep
and somehow
in the morning fresh air
the trees are a little clearer
the world a little brighter
the breeze blows hope
I get to try again
I get to seize the day
who knows what it will hold
go out and find that thing
that one thing worth it all
full cell
recharged
up up up
