Yesterday my son moved into the dorm at the university and I realized that for the first time in a long time I am living alone... and it will take some getting used to.
Living Alone
there is a silence that I have not heard before, a dullness that lines the walls and hangs
low from ceilings once peaked and perky, a shadow that lingers on windows' lowered lids... even the
cats' padded tiptoes seem loud in the stillness and morning news echoes with mumbled headlines,
hardly the company it was just yesterday... I assume this is called 'living alone' and I will adapt and adjust...
Yes you shall adjust but it shall not be easy...it never is even when one realizes it is for the best and life cycles through for all. Beautiful sentiment and expression.
A write that many can relate to, I can personally right now...my son has been married nearly seven years, and in May my daughter married and moved out! Talk about empty nest...it's difficult, especially since my husband works second shift, and when I come home from work, the house is extra silent...I'm slowly adjusting..but don't think I will ever get used to the silence that hangs in the air...a great write that is very touching.
Blessings,
Joyce B.
Beautiful poem Myrna ... can completely relate. From my own experience ... after what appears as loneliness dissipates, you will discover a blessed peace. Blessings ...

You've taken the first step; recognizing and identifying "aloneness." So many middle years parents never admit what you put into sweet and loving words ...called,"living alone and I will adapt..." As others know, you will adapt, and life should take on revised values, getting you ready for those specail visits with phone calls inbetween. This is a joy to read. - Bill

Dear Myrna,
You will adjust, my friend - no other choice again. Bart must be very excited. I've been thinking of writing a poem about this quietness; maybe today at your inspiration. Uh oh - talking about me in your review - (all about me).
Yes, sadly we all as parents go through this stage and whether it be to an apartment across town, a unninversity in the next state or for a job in a different country it still leaves the same aching gap in our hearts when it happens. It will never entirly go away but with time the ache will be bearable. Beautiful though yearning write of a loving parent.
enjoyed...
Art Sun...
Blessings,

Be safe,
