'Time to Breathe' is written in the lovely soliloquy form developed by AD member, E.W.Richardson. I do hope you enjoy...

Time to Breathe

I counted the moments, remembered
Each breath, each heartbeat, trying
To keep love close to me, denying
You were gone, our time lost forever.

And even as moments became days,
Drifting into weeks and months, spilling
Their sorrow upon sunsets and filling
Each sunrise with sadness, I waited...

Waited for that healing, that promised
Soothing of hurt, the easing of grief
And passing seasons that color each leaf
With new breaths, with new beginnings.

I wondered how long must one bleed...
How long must wounds be hidden
Beneath the gauze of time, like unforgiven
Truths not given the chance to breathe.

Time does pass though, moments are remembered
And I have come to see love and you are forever,
Not measured in heartbeats or counted days.
I pity not the breaths spent, the hours waited
For pain's departure or the healing promised,
Because life is about endings... and beginnings.
Sometimes the gauze still slips, wounds still bleed....
But now I know they but need time, time to breathe.

"Spilling their sorrow upon sunsets and filling each sunrise with sadness." Wow this is breathtakingly beautiful. It's hard to rationalize such misery but in the end it's what's left to do to move forward. God is the God of new beginnings. Great read. God bless you.

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
