Simplicity
As winter closes its sleepy eyes
In its soul a simplicity of song remains
Melodies drift upon softer wind
And morning chill becomes a sigh
In time, stirring the embers of spring
One leaf, left behind seasons ago, whispers
Past, a brittle memory bidding farewell

And that soul too, slowly slipping away,
Breathes deeply, a spirit captured within
Destiny's script, nearing its final page
With quiet reflection, lingering thoughts
Exhale, dusting time with heavy-lidded
Acceptance and in sweetest harmony
The song of simplicity plays on
