A bit of free verse that has found its way into the 'I Hear a Sparrow/Summer' collection. I hope you enjoy....
Rhythm
Ripples lick along muddied bank
Of bayous breathing twilight...
Teasing the quiet,
Like a lullaby without words
Or a dancer tiptoeing through time
On slippered feet,
This song of summer plays
On and on within the rhythm
Of every sigh, every whisper,
Every familiar footstep of day
Walking gently into night.
Myrna,
Indeed this poem has the gentle rhythms it ought to have and the hushed elegance of a dancer on "slippered feet"...a beautiful mood right through.
John
Soft and gentle at day's end as your words bring life toa slow changing world. Each word is so much yours with the breath you give it. I do likethis one muchly. - Bill
