Not meant to be morbid or dismal in anyway...actually inspired by a friend who asked this of us before she lost her battle to cancer.. her strength and beauty of spirit will always live on in those who knew her...
Remember Me
Paint me not on sullen skies
That drape the fall of night...
Speak not of me in darkened light
Casting me into shadow's depth
Paint me not in pity's flame
Burning away the best of me
Play not for me a composed litany
Of sadness and of regret
Paint me not in leaden strokes
Tainted with mock disdain
Write not of me in sorrow's pain
Dipped in ink of shimmering tears
Paint me not in somber mood
Or sullen hues of bitter wind
For that is not where I have been...
Just remember me as I am
Instead paint me upon azure skies,
Leaving my imprint within the depth
Of dawn's menagerie and sunset's flame.
Speak of me with no hint of past regret
But play for me a song of joyful strokes
To brush away free falling tears.
Write of me in words of playful mood...
Please... just remember me as I am

Your words excel as much as your feelings do;
absolutely the right stress, the right tone
and point of view. Writing of a higher order.
