A haibun.. and yes, it is autobiographical in spirit..(don't do these often..lol)

Child of Difference

Dawn breaks, escaping
Scattering its dew, its breath
And spirit inhales

Born a child of difference, she rises. Greets morn. Searches for secrets of self.  Seeks joy in dreams. Touches life. Listens to its melody. Savors its scent, its taste. Begins to believe...

Sun and shadows dance
Pirouetting across sky
Inspiring journeys

She makes her discoveries and her mistakes. She learns of acceptance. She learns of compromise. She learns of circumstances not changeable.  She learns just who she is and could still be. And yet...

Twilight embracing
Truth written upon velvet
Hiding behind stars

She finds herself lost at times.  Confusion appears, once hidden behind skies of crimson. Uncertainty rests within the arms of misconception.  Insecurity battles assurance. And she begins to doubt her worth, her ability to simply overcome....

An ascending moon
Reveals itself, sings its song
And she understands

Thoughts begin to flow, bleed from every pore. Spilling honesty upon empty pages, recapturing breaths she forgot to take. She speaks of melancholy moods, sting of loss, bite of prejudice, and testing of faith. But there are too those revelations of innocence, pensive reflections. Those introspective moments.  The  all-consuming spirit of the ink guides her, defines her, and seeps into her soul.  The child of difference ... the collector of words... the unsure heart... the doubter and true believer become one...

Dawn breaks, escaping
Scattering its dew, its breath
And spirit inhales

this Child of Difference
is a very aware adult in touch
with all around and with self, a spiritual
awareness rapidly becoming rarer;

Myrna, your vision here is exceptional
as is your heart
