Journey of Loss

The moon fades away
Opens a misty curtain
Dawn's dew softly falls

She was not ready for this goodbye.  She could not accept the loss. She was numb. She was angry. She was lost and empty. And she wept for herself. Her dignity was shattered.  Her strength depleted. Her courage disappeared into welcoming shadows. Mourning was her food of choice.  She did not see that she was starving.

Dawn's dew softly falls
Sun brings its warm radiance
The curtain closes

She hid her grief well, or so she thought.  It was clearly seen in her eyes. It was heard in her words.  It was felt in her silence.  Those who loved her knew she would find herself again with time's grace.  She would reach the far horizon. She would survive.  The knot of grief would take a while to unravel.  But her heart would heal.  Her soul would believe.  Her love for him would remain and she would embrace it.  She would begin a new journey.

The curtain closes
Sun and moon collaborate
Creating new days

Those who loved her watched and waited.  They were rewarded.  Dignity smiled once again.  Courage and strength slowly returned. Silence drifted away. Laughter applauded. There were  tears because she missed him still. But there were memories too. There were moments never forgotten.  There was love... and it sustained her on this new journey... this journey of loss and life.

Creating new days
Reaching far horizons
Sun and moon applaud

“Mourning was her food of choice. She did not see that she was starving.” Is just an example of beautiful writing in this piece. Your words paint pictures of grief and overcoming grief that reaches the soul.

A complicated write which I probably could not even attempt; a gift well-shared with meaning; thank you, Myrna. Love and best wishes to you,

There will always be memories...but you found your way through the treachery of loss, to claim the new day as your own. A beautiful write.
Cheers moi spp,

An excellent haibun, Myrna. It is excellent because of the truism of the words. Excellent because the words were dug from your soul and memories. I could taste your grief. I smiled when you found yourself.
