I hope you enjoy... I have not been around much of late as we have some medical emergencies in my family and a family member has passed away, my brother-in-law, whose service is tomorrow. This poem reflects my thoughts over the last six weeks or so.
My Name Is Simply....
I found a word one day
sitting alone on a bench of thoughts.
It asked me to keep it company...
It brought the healing I had sought.
I asked if I could share it
in a poem I wished to write
But instead it begged me to wait
because the time was not yet right.
So I did as I was asked
and soon I came to realize
That the word knew of which it spoke
for I could not reach a compromise.
And then one day it came to me
that perhaps the time was here
So I penned these few words
and kept the memory near...
'Your time here is measured
not by the moments lived
But by the chance to create a moment
in every breath you're given.
Never lose your faith
in your acceptance of life's trials,
Or shed your tears of sorrow
within the mockery of your denial.
Hold fast to those memories
that help your heal and cope
And if you forget, remember me...
My name is simply HOPE.'
Yes, I have remembered that word
and its bench of thought.
I have remembered its wise advice
and the balm that it has brought.
I have also realized that I
did not find the word, you see....
The truth, as I have discovered,
is that HOPE was searching for me.
............Oh My Gosh ...Yes "hope " is the key building bock of
everything connected to living, for with out hope the world and our lives are much darker paces......nicely done also,
Sorry for your losses Myrna
So that's why you haven't been posting. I was fearful that it might be your health and I'm glad that it was someone else even though it's sad that we all have to go through the loss of loved ones.
Your absence as not affected your genius for telling a story in a lyrical and poetic way. This one absolutely captured my heart as I read it. Very uplifting and wonderful.
A poem with the simple message, written from the heart and given to the world. Whoever will read this will have to come away from it with a healthy dose of anticipated HOPE.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
Sorry for your loss my dear, condolences to you and your family.
Cheers moi spp,
