Not what we think we am!

Oh, how smug we seem to be

Nothing's going to bother me

I have His grace I'm saved we say

and yet ourselves aren't gone away

We cling to things we ought not do

We say we're His but we're not true

He called us apart but we  heed not

Our lives are filled with things we've bought

We treasure these and seek him not

We go to church so clean so bright

We sing we praise with all our might

But does he hear our boisterous noise

when after church we seek our toys?

Who's got what and what's got who?

how many  how much  how little  how few

We whine, we scheme, we plan, we tread

Upon the devil's path we're led

Our hearts are not really with Him

Our songs only a sham

Just noise and cheer, an occasional tear

we're not what we think we am

Because the truth be told

A  light on our darkness shine

We only want what's ours
