As a kid I preferred Summer over Winter. I could take the heat... Bring it on. I never really liked the cold. As I have grown older I find I don't handle either extreme well. That is why I wrote the following.

Poem Artwork

February can seem bleak… cold and unforgiving.
I wear three layers of clothes and still find myself shivering.

I can hardly wait for the onset of spring.
When I will see the first rose bud and hear the birds sing.

However, for now I am cold all the way to my fingertips.
I have a runny nose and dry, chapped lips.

Oh how I long for warmer weather to embrace me.
I await a soft warm breeze and spring flowers to see.

However, the man says we may soon get more snow.
With the snow come strong cold winds that blow.

I wait for the spring flowers but I know I must wait.
I am reminded that spring does come on this date.

Everything has its purpose and that includes snow and sleet.
I have seen the seasons recycle themselves many times and repeat.

The spring is followed by the heat of the summer.
Then comes the autumn when trees drop their leaves and start to slumber.

As the trees fall into their state of dream the winter comes on.
We endure another cold season until it is gone.

The wonder of it all is again blooms the spring Dogwood.
I would hold onto the spring if only I could.

Since I cannot I will simply accept each day that I live.
For each day I live has something to give.

I agree with Lena, not much we can do about the weather but hang in there. You are so right that we do have something to give everyday...reminds me of a message preached at our recent revival, the preacher spoke of how we should face each day with the thoughts of; now Lord, what can I do for you today? Help me to recognize that divine appointment when faced with it...I've thought much about that since his message. Enjoyed this write...spring is around the corner!
Blessings,
Joyce B...

That's part of living this extraordinary life, my friend. So I take it all in stride. Cold, hot, rain, snow, minue 30C...I say, take it all in stride. Don't fret, don't fume...nothing we can do. If we move someplace hot, well, we'll soon run back to the cold. Can't win no matter what. So just sit back and enjoy, shivering...cold fingers...runny nose and all. Soon it will be spring...then summer! Okay, 'nuf said. :)

God Bless
Lena

I feel you pain! We have had a week of 3 degrees and below. That doesn't count the wind chill. Just keeping thinking of the Cottonwoods floating on that spring breeze. And grab another blanket!

Dogwood is always a welcome sight, especially in the hills of South Carolina.

Dear Lew,

For me, I could always do without the cold (though I do love reclining by the fireplace). When I was younger, the cold didn't bother me so much but now I prefer the heat of summer any day.

This doen't mean that I welcome Global Warming! LOL ;)

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*
