Spring has Sprung

When I was a kid we had a poem we loved to chant. It went like this: “spring has sprung, the grass is riz… I wonder where the birdies is.” We thought it was hilarious. Of course we were just kids. Right now, it is March, howling winds, cold temperatures and wind chill factors that make the twenty-five mile an hour winds seem like the ant-artic.

I am going to write about April, May and June. I love the springtime.

Poem Artwork

Even with the howling winds of March you can see the buds pushing through the soil.

By April they will be stems with peddles forming as they reach for the sun and toil.

They will work at growing and as the spring breath spreads their sweet scent

They salute the leaves which come to life on the trees once the cold March winds relent.

I love to walk among the flowers and soak up their colors and smells.

I love see the dogwood bloom and walk through field of bluebells.

I love to see the world as it celebrates another resurrection.

I watch the rays of the sun shining off the still lake… such a beautiful reflection.

Its spring and life is starting anew and birds return to nest.

All of nature is busy now.  It has no time to rest.

The gray winter skies are a thing of the past and the spring breeze is gently blowing.

All of nature prepares for summer.  Now everything is growing.

Ah, thank you, Lew. On a freezing day like today here in Toronto, this is a most welcome read. Something to look forward to in the not too distant future! :)
