The Evolution of Clouds

Nature is a wonderful thing to watch. The morning clouds can come as no more than a haze or they can turn the sky to shades of gray. They can be just a wisp or they may be something more or less. The wonder of watching the sky as it reacts to the sun, the moon and even the moisture is a wonder to see.

Poem Artwork

During an early morning drive my eyes

Found their way to search the skies.

What they saw was no real surprise,

For there was nothing strange or otherwise.

The clouds are preparing for summers heat.

They have moved higher in the sky, making their retreat.

They are not fluffy white like cotton candy of any sort.

The fact is; they take on no form but simply abort.

They are scattered across the morning sky.

Far, far above the birds who fly.

The sun burns down upon trees below

Where birds land and rest before they go.

They seem to search for the clouds as they fly at latitude.

They never think to look at the higher altitude.

As the day wears on the heat from the sun

Diminishes the clouds and for now they are done.

I will wait for the evening when the sun moves to the west.

The evening clouds will return now with zest.

They may even bring a thunder shower or two.

That means water for the plants, the birds as well as you and me, too!

An intriguing write my friend, clouds are a fabulous muse, I remember when I was a little girl, I loved to lay in the grass and look up at the clouds and try to figure out what they looked like, sometimes bunnies, sometimes scoops of icecream, and others like waves in the oceans...enjoyed this wonderful and light write!
Blessings,

I'm intrigued by them, too, Lew. They are certainly a God-send on those hot sunny days when they, for a moment, block the sun. I enjoyed the clouds with you, here. :)

Keep writing!

God Bless
Lena

A very well written verse of couplets. The images of the various cloud forms well describe the multi-faceted sky we live under. I enjoyed your verse.
