Good Grief, I’m Old!

When I awoke this morning and began to comb my hair

I found that all I could do was stand before the mirror and stare.

My forehead has become more dominant and my thinning hair is turning gray.

When I brought my hand up to my lips in astonishment I found I found that all I could say

Was, “Good grief, I’m old, wrinkled, weathered and frail.”

I found my eyebrows had even grayed and my skin was tattered and pale.

What could I do but sigh and go about my morning bathroom chores.

I guess old age simply comes with living and is simply something one endures.

So I simply went on with my day but I really must admit I wonder why it is that we do not notice

That our old age is coming until we find it is upon us.
