This is a wonderful time of year. This morning my wife and I and a friend took a walk and we were greeted by the promise of another autumn. That inspired this poem.

Autumns’ Declaration

On this Sunday morning at the end of August each year

The warm summer breeze seems to change as does the atmosphere

As it gently streams across my face and moves through my hair

It is telling me the latest news it has to share.

Summer, my friend is almost History

The atmosphere will take on a new personality.

The clouds will move higher in the sky closer to outer space

And the mountains will then take on a beautiful new face.

Summers’ mugginess will once more become a part of history

The temperatures will drop and become more frosty and wintry

You will marvel at the colors created by the wind and the trees.

You will want to dress warmer to endure the cool breeze.

This is the time of year when the mountains prepare for their time of rest.

If you look you will see this as a wonderful time, these autumn months so blessed.

Enjoy my presence while I can stay with you, my dear friend

Because before you are ready my days will come to an end

And I will be replace by the long cold and frosty winter

Which will last until spring comes and temperatures rise slowly

And the weather once again changes its personality

Such is the cycle of life from year to year.

Stop and enjoy each persona it gives and hold each one dear.

Summer, my friend is almost History

How so very true. And although I enjoy Fall, I really hate seeing Old Man Winter again.

Very nicely expressed, Lew. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. Your poem reminds me of one that I have posted here at AD entitled, "Death of August." Thank you for sharing. Love and peace to you,

Regis
