The day is ending and temperatures fall as the sun now takes its’ leave

Its’ rays depart but not before placing a glancing image of luster to the autumn leaves

In the east there is an orange ball peering over the mountain crest

The moon; now orange, reflects light back to the Earth as the sun prepares for its’ rest

A few brave clouds are spread here and there across the placid autumn sky

Darkness takes dominion as the sun now bids the moon a brief hello followed by a quick goodbye

The moon rises slowly and the orange glow fades to soon become an exquisite white

Its’ size diminishes but still glows brighter as it progresses into the autumn night

Oh, the beauty of the October moon shining down from the heavens above

It is perfectly round as it radiates upon the leaves, the mountains and the earth shimmering with its’ splendid love
