Ha! Ron, your infectious rhyming cuplets have caused me giggling (which takes very little, I'm afraid) BUT... with tongue firmly planted in cheed and with all cylinders working, this is a romp worth taking more than once...soooooo... I read it twice and I'm keeping it.
No doubt, when gas prices go back to 30 cents a gal. this will be a hilarious "look back"... (is she kidding? sigh) Great stuff! katy xox
Very clever, Ron. I have found ways to stay close to home and still get everything I need. I walk more, which is good, and I shop in my neighborhood from the independent owners. It is much more fun to chat with them than it is with the cashier at Wal-Mart, anyway. I stopped driving to Starbucks for coffee every morning and the money I save by making my coffee at home, more than covers the increased cost of gasoline, not to mention lets me sleep an extra half hour in the morning.

Ron, every time I fill up my car I cringe! All this nonsense about refineries having problems and the fact that a barrel of oil is up over 60 bucks a barrel is absolutely ridiculous! Excellent poetry and the pictures are really cool. I loved the “yellow school bus.” First my memories automatically fly back into the 70’s during the nasty oil embargo when I worked at three gas stations, but I never once had to worry about the fuel shortage. My family had seven cars, and between the three service stations that I worked at, we never truly felt the crunch ‘caused by the embargo unless we were far from home. As for that yellow school bus, it reminded me of my deceased brother who always wanted to build one and roam the countryside chasing women … lol. I’m sure had he lived, we would have finally built one, but he would have made the journey alone, I was married. Thanks for sharing the write. Take good care and be well.
