A Writer’s Lament

Poem Artwork

Caught by a dangling marsupial,
I was distracted by my surprise.

The participle of the perforated pupil,
floated submerged before my eyes.

Faced with a bloated structure,
I had the refuse of gorging all pies.

Lacking in laconic lackluster love,
alliterated to locate less lucid lies.

Sleep cast a lightning quick shadow,
but allegorically didn't have my size.

Forced into a sleepless star dance,
I tripped over many artificial tries.

Shot from a cannon's belly birth,
always wore explosive IUD ties.

Concerned about apostrophe knees,
I, we, they, you and occasional mys.

Stuck with the proverbial iconic its,
it's no wonder I get over its capitalize.

While the dangling marsupial hangs over me,
it's time for plural’s Is to say my bye-byes.

Just so you know, one of our local civic idiots convinced the city council et.al to proclaim Santa Clarita California, "Awesome Town" After seeing this headline news come to fruition, and even more sadly see southwest airlines participate in this pathetic illusion, and after the obligatory barf on my part, I simply refer to our city as "possum town." Your photo should be our city seal. Patrick

Dangling marsupials, dangling participles, antecedents and "explosive IUD ties". Not to be confused with tie dyes of course. You had fun writing this and I enjoyed reading it Ron. I love the opposumbilities you left dangling. In which alley did you find all of those gories? Another very creative piece of work. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

You know what, Ron? I'm not even trying to figure this out!!! I love the picture. I have a soft spot in my heart for those marsupials, especially since I video-taped one in our driveway with 10 babies on her back.
So, about the poem--I found it confusing, amusing and somewhat bruising.
My most vicious and vociferous foe is the who-er-whom de-grammarator.
Now, I must go and click that link to see what else may lurk there.
