Poem Artwork

My Butterfly

Outside my window,
you grace my view.
Sweet exhibitionist,
so drawn to you.

You flit and flirt,
with true abandon.
So starkly beautiful,
you can't be random.

So exquisitely you fly,
I want to join you.
I want to pirouette,
in the sun, too.

I'll pray to Buddha,
that in the next life.
I'll emerge from my cocoon,
and make you my wife.

For in my life,
nature no longer rules.
If I dance in the garden naked,
I'm carted off with the fools.

Since when did carefree,
become against the law?
Since when did freedom,
become shock and awe?

As I watch you stark naked,
displayed for all to see.
I ponder what beauty is,
in the beholder be.

I certainly would hate to see you,
wearing designer clothes.
Disguising your beauty,
while they stick up their nose.

It's a topsy-turvy world,
we both live in.
So for now I'll just watch you,
and suffer no sin.

Oh my, i do so love yellow and this poem is excellent. Makes me want to have someone in my life to take care of and do things with. Which i don't now since 2007 - very lonely it gets day by day.

I always love your nature poems, and this is no exception. I also like the duality presented here - why cover up natural beauty? Why are we always hurrying? Very nice imagery and makes you think. Plus I love butterflies so this poem just sings to me. :)

Wonderfully scripted to arrest in the reader some consciousness often relegated to the back of the bus...out of sight...out of mind. Sad, but true, we are becoming so conditioned that few would even recognize the nakedness of the butterfly. Well done, Ron.

Oh my goodness!!!!!
I loved this jewel of a poem!!!
You brought to life creations true beauty from the beginning of time, taught me my nakedness is okay to share in my jewels as well!

Very touching. I am eighty years old and afflicted with failing eyesight and the tremors, which prevents me from writing anything significant, which was my retirement dream. Your life seems to be worse than mine presently and I admire your prolific writing. Well done on the poem and keep up the good work and good spirits.

Lovely poem captures the essence of many of nature's mysteries.

Even Solomon in all his glory is not arrayed like one of these ... (not may original words - ;) )

Nothing quite as lovely as a fluttering little butterfly,
And so sadly, we see less and less of them as time goes by.

Ah, yes... Butterflies are Free,
unlike you, dear Ron, and unlike me...
but as for reincarnating as a fly,
no matter how buttery it's Monarch eye,
would be ignoble beyond belief,
I'd rather come back as a leaf...

and yes my irony really implies
coming back at all is just a pack of lies...

But belief what you want
Believe what you will,
your poem is excellent, still!

Unique beauty is the butterfly. Flit, flutter and pirroutte
movements in dance of silken wings. Enjoyed.

I have a butterfly bush and love to take pictures of the different ones that come to it. Yes, they do flit and flirt don't they? Ah, to be so free! Lovely poem indeed.

Love ya!

Nothing is more powerfully impressive than the raw beauty of a butterfly. And for a brief moment, such beauties can take our minds to a far-off, distant land--away from the harsh realities we must face on a daily basis. Well done, Ron.

Ah . . . A most different kind of love poem, but one that I gratefully and energetically approve of. You certainly made your case for the au natural look, and I agree, especially given your love interest. I enjoyed this "different" poem.
