A little bit of moon nonsense that I threw together so that readers can come to their own conclusions. How do I feel? With my fingers.

Dark of the Moon

The old wolf howled at the dark of the moon,
that seemed very strange since it was half past noon.

My time was up and the wolf was at the door,
I even thought I heard the raven caw, "Nevermore."

The clouds were closing in on me,
and I could hear their silent, stifling roar.

I conjured up a rage not seen this age,
an unwelcome feeling never felt before.

But I felt with my fingers the sword of almighty fate,
and brandished it with words that evened the score.

The dark of the moon had come way, way too soon,
but I slashed through the night to daylight once more.

And the old wolf shrank in fear, tail ‘tween its legs,
and the dark moon shone brightly like never before.

I love it! It's so vaguely metaphorical. And a fantasy piece, which I love.

So much has been written about the moon and yours
is no exception...wanting to bring light never before
seen.

...poetic-catchy-title "Dark of the Moon" symbolically
shuts out the comfort of the light...for a dark hour-yard
when one disappointment follows another...bears little
relation to the reality of the "half past noon" time...when
empty is the word "dark"...but encourages creative talents
to shine...uses the words...to sum up the force and...quantitate
the difference between the common...just feeling low/down...that besets us all...at some time or another...going further...and descending...beyond the blue...
With my fingers crossed...hope...it's just one of your great
poetry for your loyal-Sun-morn-readers...
Thank you Ron, for sharing it.

I enjoyed this piece, a much more creative and fictional poem for you. Flights of fantasy on a moon-lit afternoon. M.True

I like howling at the moon, as do my dogs. I've even been fortunate enough to hear real wolves howling at the moon - the good kind of wolves, not the nasty human ones.

a moon always has a dark side especially "twenn the legs ... a cluster of poetic emblems make this poem particularly humorous indeed ... makes one want to take off and run to catch with its moonbeams ...

To me, this is symbolic and conjures up thoughts and emotions... ...and tonight's moon is supposed to be the largest in quite some time. Thank you for sharing, Ron. Love and peace to you,

In the majority of the poetic construction I've read of yours I see that your primary penchant is to rhyme. Have you ever attempted writing Triolets? Speaking personally I have found that challenging myself with time-honored poetic forms is a [humbling] process that helps stimulate, and elevate, ones creative mind out of the dangerous creative ruts any of us can find ourselves trapped in.

All right! Battle won..................run fast, wolf! Run fast!

Love ya!

The wolf seems to welcome the dark moon, but I'm glad you've sent it away with its tail between its legs and brought back the brightness of the moon.

Nicely-done, Ron!

Seems a bit of Poe,
But with a greater amount of foe,
The wolf and the three little pigs, Curly, Larry & Moe,
And the crazy clock in the Munsters home, the crow...

All this in your crazy hand giving it to us with the feeling of touch... -e-

What a stark image! That Old Wolf is a bit of a chancer. He seems to favour the element of surprise. Glad you were ready for him :-)
