A song for my Valentine

Photo by Author of "Two Left Shoes,"Tommie McNeil

Poem Artwork

Sweet Valentine

Refrain

Through all the years,
of sunshine and tears,
allaying your fears, still,
you are always there,
my sweet Valentine.

For you are mine,
and I am yours.
Our devotion has stood,
the test of time.

You greet the mornings,
with a bright smile,
treat me princely,
all the while.

(Refrain)

We have not always,
agreed on things.
But in the end,
our compassion rings.

We help others,
as we can each day.
You help me more,
than I can ever repay.

(Refrain)

I owe you more,
than I can never pay,
I love you more,
than I can ever say.

So into forever,
I will always know,
that you are my Valentine,
sunshine, rain or snow.

(Refrain)

Hallmark could take a lesson from this lyrical tribute that asks not for syrupy response, but a moment's pause to appreciate the author's gift of love and hopefully one's own. There's obviously too little acknowledgment given to those who exercise this innate principal of coexistence, compassion and unselfishness. Thank you for sharing.

So beautiful these words! This old maid would dearly love to have someone write, or better whisper, their sentiment to her. Your lady is incredibly blessed!

Well, this is such a lovely poem, Ron. I wish I had words like this to shower upon my Valentine tomorrow. She's such a deserving wife, but I will probably let one of the professionals say it for me in a card. Shame on me.

When I saw your poem, which I enjoyed, it reminded me that Valentine's Day was just about here. Not something that is particularly touted over here, except for some of the savvy stores wishing to cash in on love. So you have got some sweet loving, otherworldly sentiments after all ? !
