Just a little musing about our twice annual messing with time.

Spring Forward

I sprung forward the other day.

Lost track of time along the way.

I was either an hour early or an hour late.

As I left the daily starting gate.

The paradox that is our track of time,

makes no sense in universal rhyme.

Cows don't know when to come home,

their milk comes too early in the loam.

Cows don't know when to leave their home,

their milk comes too late and turns to foam.

The sun comes up, and the sun goes down.

But it's just the earth revolving like a clown.

An evil clown with its head spinning around,

the deception of time moves without a sound.

So if you spring forward, but find yourself behind,

consider yourself lucky, for the time that you find.

Hidden in the clock, synchronized in orbit,

to engineer your lives, until your final obit.

Springing forward and back in semiannual swings.

Time masters us, among other things.

Great take, Ron, applying to lots of situation. WE manipulate, only to find ourselves manipulated!

Love the picture. I bet the lamb leaps regardless of what time we people say it is. O to be the lamb!

Love that photo and the poem. The time change is confusing. I do like it light later though.

We spring forward yesterday, but I which we didn't as it makes the mornings dark. Nice photo of a airborne lamb, thanks for sharing, Ron!

An appropriate poem for the changing of the clocks. As I get older I don't carry a watch and I don't own a cel phone, glad I remembered this year lol, What is time? Whatever it is I'd like to slow it up,
thanks for the good read Ronald, have a great day, xo

Not all states recognize the changing of clocks. I find it utterly pointless. Great write!!

Love ya!

I really hate the daylight savings time thing. It was started in WW-1 & still we have to put up with it; you've made it fun when in reality I find it boring and un-fun. Thanks for another witty write from the master of wit that you are. -e-

Good one Ron! Rather not Spring forward or Fall backward. Let's leave Father time alone and all will be just fine. Amen!

It would just make sense if we did this 4PM in the afternoon on Fridays. I could get on board with that.
It was sure on my mind... 4PM last Friday. Just once a year- can't we do without that last hour?

An interesting take, Ron. Certainly everything in the physical universe (alive or inanimate) is caught up in it. Peace... r

Time doesn't spring forward over here. It just stays the same with a relentless sun that we all wish would go down, not stick around longer. PS: Jerry has a point. Very hard to read. John

Ron ... well put !

"Time And Tide wait for no man!"

Time just seems to be controlledn,
As we Forward our Clocks ...
But then, nine days hence occurs,
The Vernal Equinox !

Balance an Egg that day,
As do the Chinese ...
Or sprinkle Holi powder,
Should you please!

Pick a Trefoil, or Shamrock,
Usually in leaves of Three ...
Unless you are Lucky with your pluck,
A Four-Leafed Clover ... Oh Gee!

On that day, the 20th this year,
Equal Night will then be here.
One less day, for youth to be Young ...
Eureka, my Friend ... Spring has Sprung !!!

May Mother Nature bring forth
All of her Beauteousness ...
Damned Cold Winter ... Be Gone!
Welcome Warm Spring Bliss !

A timely and clever write. Years ago we lived in the country surrounded by Amish neighbors, one of which we got our eggs from. One time just after the time change, we stopped in to pick up some eggs. I noticed their clock hadn't been changed, and said something about it. Their reply was that they didn't bother changing times. They said the cows still milk at the same time, and I've never forgotten the logic of that statement.

Very cleverly done, Ron, but I do dislike daylight savings time with a passion. My system just gets all out of sorts. Here it is 12:20, when it's really 1:20, and I'm beside myself because I'm running out of time. But, if things go as they should, I'll be all right in a week or so. Then, when we change back in the fall, I'm happy once again and feel like I have all the time in the world. And this is the reason I don't like Ben Franklin. Enough said.

I give up. I cannot read this poem. Don't know why you insist on writing your poems in such very light words. This is the worst one yet. Yes! I know how to make it readable, but why should I have to?

There's an endless case to be made for our interpretation of time, its use, its way of shackling our journey. "Time masters us among other things." An honest consensus would deem you correct. Well written.
