Life is filled with conundrums and paradoxes. Best not let them get the best of us. But this is just fun with words, not me… ;-)

Conundrum

Why is it, the more that I earn,
the less I have that's mine?

Why is it the more important I get,
the less my reason makes rhyme?

Why is it that the busier I get,
the less I get things done on time?

And why is it that the more I ring the bell,
the less I hear my own chime?

Why is a world of reason and good sense,
replaced with enlightened self interest?

Why is it that the more technology we have,
the harder it is to get things done?

Money is the only thing that talks,
everything else, private jet rideless, walks.

Common sense says go with the flow,
when everything I know, says, "No!"

Nothing is surer then death and taxes,
so just weather it all, while it wanes and waxes.

Enjoyed the tit for tat, rat a that the more thing change, the more complex one scratches their bald head in wanes and waxes.

Your words flow like honey in a world stark and cold. Technology holds us in its thrall, but I don't like it all.

Always envious of those effortless rhymes and the flow your poetry brings.
Conundrum it is indeed!

I love the word, 'conundrum' and you have done well to uphold its meaning.

Bill Murray portrayed this so well in the movie "Ground Hog Day".
The older I get the more these feelings in the poem you have written bud to life in mine.
As I write this to you dear Ron, I envision waking in the morning, getting up and doing the day just like I did yesterday hoping death doesn't tax me, even though I'm waxed! Hugs TW

Blessings

So many conundrums and paradoxes--the irony of it all!

Love the rhythm and meter of this one, not to mention the rhymes. The rhetorical questions get the reader thinking about these questions with no true answers. An enjoyable read.

True about technology--so convenient, yet increasing the work load and the effort to get stuff done.

One might own an expensive Condo,
Or Condominium ...
Yet lack one mere Condom,
When needed ...
Now that could be ...
A Real Conundrum !

Many people ask these same questions. Yeah, I wonder why too!

You are so right, Ron. I've wondered the same things. Great flow and rhyme as always.

A fun write to read from beginning to end. And nothing is surer than death and taxes, but at least The IRS grants extensions.
