A silly case of miscommunication with the approval of fellow poet, Jane Noponen Perinacci

The Attack by Edvard Isto (1899)

The Russian Double-Headed Eagle Trying to Take the Law from the Finnish Maiden

Finished

I dreamed I was a mighty Viking,

with arms like Popeye the sailor man.

So I ate lots of spinach and sailed away,

leaving skinny Olive Oyl behind to stay,

for my Internet love in a far-off land.

I wanted so much to meet her,

to consummate what I dreamed,

but when I wrote asking her whereabouts,

She wrote me that she was Finnish[ed].

My sail wind suddenly diminished,

I returned, letting Olive oil my pain.

Sigh.

I'm surprised Bluto didn't sweep Olive off her feet during Popeye's foolhardy absence.

A bit of fun played out thru the pun. Also a truism, cyber-relationships play by other rules. It's amazing what can happen when one is not "in person".

OH MY, SOMETIMES WE'RE SO TRANSFIXED BY ANTICIPATED 'NEW THRILLS' THAT WE FORGET TO FIND OUT THE BASIC 'OLD' STUFF, LIKE...'WHERE DO YOU LIVE?' I LOVED THIS, RONALD, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS
