Don't have any sons, but it makes a nice rhyme.

Lost a Day

Just lost a day,

and almost didn't,

finish this poem on time.

Been up to my ears,

in alligators, I fears,

and my eyes been,

focused on a dime.

Seems the obligations,

of this life keep growing,

growing and growing.

Like the algae stew,

creates a fine slime.

Doesn't keep me up.

Sleep like a dead duck.

But what the flock,

we're all on borrowed time.

The Olympics are there, too,

jumping channels for a view,

while getting some work done,

maybe, in a time or two.

I'll stick to my guns,

working down to reruns,

and not forget what day it is,

until the next time, my sons.

I CAN RELATE. I STAY UP ALL NIGHT SOMETIMES, AND THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN I'LL GO TO BED EARLY TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOST TIME(MY EYES REFUSING TO STAY OPEN ANY LONGER)AND WHEN I DO POP AWAKE...I NEED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT DAY IS IT ANYHOW?!? BUT IT NEVER GOES THROUGH THE ENTIRE DAY, AND...BY THE GRACE OF GOD 'FOCUS' RETURNS PRETTY QUICKLY, WITH ME MAKING MY APOLOGIES TO ANYONE THAT I MIGHT HAVE CONTACTED INDICATING THE WRONG DAY...I'M BACK!!! THANKS FOR SHARING, RONALD. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS.

Hey Ron , I like it . it's one of those quickies, that says what's on your mind --sounds like me - I've got the itch sometimes to just say it like it is.

There are days when I just go through the motions living as best as I could with all the restrictions. Life has changed, but then there other
days when I walk in nature seems to appease me. The other day I saw a monarch resting on a flower. She allowed me to get ever so close with my camera. For some strange reason, my emotions calmed and a felt this butterfly had come around to ease my angry feelings. All this just to say, I understand. Thank you for always putting it out there , for me to pick up :)

Yes! Between covid and now this variant, reruns of "Hogan's Heroes" are over and "The Lone Ranger" is showing it's old shows. Fun to watch! "forget what day it is,"!!!!! Ron, baby! Reality sucks at times!! LOL!!

Love ya!

I know the feeling. Even those of us who are partially living off the government's Ponzi Scheme of Social Security and don't do useful work often lose track of time. Also spending too much time watching the Olympics.

You are forgiven about "the sons". After all, a poem doesn't have to be "literally true" to be "figuratively true", especially for the sake of rhyme. Enjoyed.

All too often people with artistic, journalistic or inspirational leanings tend to get lost in their work or art whichever the case may be. Once it was pen and paper, then the old Remington typewriters and now the computers draw us into a different world. Well said in your poem.
