If Only I Could Choose

A battle rages for his soul;
Lord, deliver him from evil.
Satan's minions desire control;
Lord, hide him; be his refuge still.

Stir within him a keen desire
To know You and to live for You.
Remind him of that budding faith
He had when his skies were blue.

Come, Lord, sustain him with Your love.
Give him strength in battering storms,
That he will follow where you lead
and, trusting, to your will conform.

To turn from his sinful pleasures,
He needs to feel your guiding hand,
To see in you eternal treasure
and, by Your grace, to take a stand.

Father, cleanse his needy spirit;
Give him eternal life within.
I am pleading for Your mercy;
Please, come and grant your peace to him.

Peace that passes understanding,
That renders strength to falt'ring feet.
Your peace would fill his soul with joy;
He'd walk with you in victory sweet!

If only the choice were mine to make,
he would give his life to the Lord,
But no one is forced; we have free will;
He who believes receives the reward.
