I think I am a little depressed right now and I think it shows in this poem. I was looking for the noninspirational catagory.
Happy New Year Everything old is new again With a tick of the clock a new year begins What was yesterday is again today Change? It only comes from within, they say So, without my say, I will age another year My vision I hope becomes clear May aches and pains remain at bay May I find passion for something along the way A reason for my clock to continue to tick As time will march on tick after tock after tick

When I read this I did not feel depression. I read it again, no sign of depression... only a quiet mood, not enthusiastic, but wise, yes, a lot of wisdom. Most important of all, your lines that begin with "may I find" show hope. Sometimes the unconscious is more positive than what we consciously think.

Lovely, introspection and quiet hope is what I see. :-)

That's right, Liz. Change comes from within. There are so many reasons for one's clock to go tick, tock, tick, tock. Love for oneself, for loved ones, for ones craft, for God who is all-knowing and most of all, reason enough is when YOU are needed. These make life worthwhile. Thank you for the meaningful write. Elizabeth it is a New Year and we make the changes we choose to improve our lives, everything from yesterday is new again and therefore we make the days to follow a little brighter and I never say I am getting another year older just another year better.
