It came from the kitchen
What or Who could it be?
This holler of fright...Oh! What could it mean?
or was it a dream?

There in the kitchen
My little girl shaking
pointing her finger...
Look she said, “Mom, What the HEC is it?”
At first, I laughed, in ease of distress
But then I squinted, to do my best
“See!”, she said. “what the HEC is it? That!... on the floor!”

A creature it seemed...
I’d never seen one before!
It was hairy and moist, repulsive’s the word!
It hopped from the refrigerator
and out towards the door
Are my eyes working, “What the HEC is it?
What am I seeing?

So I got a little closer
and poked it with a fork
I must know, I must!
Well, I never laughed so much...
When I realized the fuss
In ended up being
My son, Jeremiah’s tree frog, "Slimy",
all covered in dust!
