Beldune River was their home
Where winter spirits
run overload
snow on snow, on top of snow
Where the road was...
nobody knew?
In the family thrice removed,
a cousin distant behind our brood
"Pooner" she was dubbed
She was...
brawny in the buff
Poor ole’ thing, was at a loss for wit
pickin’ a husband quite unfit
Drinkin' and smokin' was his life
"Pooner" was...
his pregnant wife
One by one the children came
Years went by just the same
But one in particular, much reminisced
The day ole’ "Pooner" made Grandpa
piss...
his pants
In the morning, she birthed a girl
by afternoon she was cutting burl
Hubby laid in his usual stupor
While bending over,
Grandpa saw...
her pooper
He ranted and raved by the window slat
saying things like Uncle so and so and that
How can he lay there while she keeps him warm,
has he no dignity left,
...even in his arm?
"She should be in bed", he said,
"Poor Ole’ "Pooner" that he wed,
But instead I see and watch her go
... leaving her quiff marks in the snow"
