He was writing a letter
To a leprechaun
I shook my head and said
There are no such things
As leprechauns
Down he laid his head
And looked dead
I had destroyed his world
His fantasies
His innocence was
No longer in place
I will never forget
The sadness that was
Evident on his face
So all these years later
I apologize
I was new at the parenting game
I hope my first born has
Forgiven me for his
Life never quite being the same
*Who says there are no leprechauns...look at this 80 year old St Paddy's Day fellow...my dad AKA "Da" to the boy in the poem.

Your Dad is proof there are Leprechauns. Wonderful picture to prove it. It's like being told there is no Santa Clause but everybody gets over it. Don't punish yourself.
Your dad is so adorable, Lynn ... and such a happy face! We all make mistakes with our children -- how is it that they all turn out so well in spite of us as parents? LOL
