I get up every day
And go to the diner
Every day's the same
Every day's no finer
There is no break
And it's makin' me ache
For a stinkin' day off
One lousy day away
From the diner life
Which is mighty nice
Yes, I live to serve
But, do I have the nerve
To close one day a week
Am I a real freak?
To want one single day
To get up, or sleep late
To do something else
For a mental health date
I did close Monday's down
And no more do I frown
My one day a week
Is the break I did seek
No more am I weak
And this poem
Has hit its peak

Boy, I tell you what... It beats the pants off FORGETTING to go to work... ;)
really! LOL i usually don't work mondays, but last night i had to; the golden corral (a plug for my place of employment here, folks; go to the golden corral, and you'll get some really great buffet style food and friendly service!) had free dinners for ALL veterans, in celebration of veteran's day, and so i had to work. i was busy, and so was the restaurant; i rolled 8 1/2 pans of silverware in nearly 5 hours! (each pan, when full, holds 120 pieces, 2o across, six rows!) i am really feeling it today in my joints; really achy today! LOL (((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in texas, karen lynn. :D i cherish all my days off; i really do! LOL
yes, Peggy...it's a mom and pop operation that closes at two every day except Friday and that day it's 7 a.m. until 8 p.m....just hubby and me work it...HUGS
