Recently, a man
Jumped off
Niagara Falls
I went to see the
Falls today
And couldn't
Imagine how
A person would
Get up the nerve
To jump off
Those fierce falls
The power and the
Shower and the
Mist-ery of it all
He must have been
So sad to try
And risk his life,
Hear death's call
But! His falling
Did surprise him
He made it...
He didn't die
So now I hope
He gets back up
And never
Again
Wants to
Over the
Falls fly

i have been to the falls many times, they are hypnotic, like the sea, or a fire place, there is even a museum detailing the histories of the misguided adventures who ventured over them in various contraptions...its amazing...

A wonderful 'recap' of a timely event! I couldn't believe they arrested him.. how silly! He imagined it.. he did it! (much like writing poems, perhaps.. smile) How clever of you to record this man's foolishness.. I rather admired him. I rather love your tribute! katy xox.
i have seen the power of those fierce falls...a woman, a teenager, actually, commited suicide the day i was there...with karen (review below). she was past the secured area, past the safety railing...a cop saw her, started toward her, she stepped into the current and was immediately jerked off her feet and over the brink...THAT FAST...carried down and i saw her head burst open on the rocks...like a watermelon...it is something i will never forget (that happened way back in 1975, and it is as clear today as then).
you capture the power well in this write--great job
i saw a person commit suicide by going over the falls myself; and unfortunately, she didn't make it. her head burst open, and she was gone, instantly. i don't think i will ever forget it. i was all but 14 years old, just a kid. but the falls ARE lovely; i would go again if i ever had the chance! but hopefully i will NEVER see anyone go over the falls ever again...
good write, though..thanks for sharing!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in texas, karen lynn. :(
Clevely expressed. Thank you for this offering, Lynn. ...Regis

I've never been there, but by the pictures I've seen.
No way, would I jump off the falls.
