Could have been worse...

I could have been a murderer today...

He sat right down
Like he always does
But his high stool
Took a tumble
He fell backwards
But grabbed onto
The counter and was
Saved from concussion
I shrieked and then
I breathed and then
I said a quick "Amen"
I re-a-lized how close
I was to seeing
Another person's "end"
If he had fallen
And cracked his head,
And died, then I would be
At best... an accomplice
At worst... a murderer
For the stool belongs to me

Isn't it better that he collapse from a faulty stool than the cooking at your dinner where this happened? Thankfully, tragedy was averted. And it gave you a very interesting write. Thanks for sharing.

maybe not Lynn. maybe in your own mind. the other persons mistakes would have been at fault. your piece expressions good intentions of guilt though. G

"I give life and I take life," saith the Lord. At best, dear Lynn, you wouldn't even have been an accomplice. Of course, in our lawsuit happy society, you could be sued just because you have the wrong color of eyes! Very well written recall of the recent incident. ~~Bonnie Q
