I'm a real author...someone was gushing...

I have two published books
And yet, until today I was
Content to be in the shadows
And not a big deal,not above
Another in an arrogant way
A sophisticate, a bore
But someone gushed about
My work and I was clearly torn
To step out of that shadow
And pump my chest up proud
For they were gushing over me
And I felt like saying out loud
"I am an author, yes I am"
Any autographs? Any book events, ma'am?
To put down on a paper, the words
That come to me,is such an awesome
Calling, that I am happy and free
To be myself, to go with insight
And beam like a candle
On a power outage night...
