When you here the static on the radio, it is Santa waiting for good little girls and boys to go to sleep.  It is not a surprise if you see Santa while he eats your cookies and milk and Mamas' fruit cake.

Could be that since I was the oldest, I always wanted to know why Mama and Daddy was allowed to see Santa and not the little ones.  No disrespect, but it is cold outside and sometimes he warms up with a little rock and rye or rum.  Santa does not want the children to see him getting warm.

My siblings and me, while on our knees peering at the North Star to see Santa fly by.  We would go to sleep on the window sill. Before daylight, we would run from our bedroom excited to find so many presents and toys under our tree.

Daddy and Mama said that Santa had looked in on us and told them to say he would see us again next year on Christmas Eve night. I never thought it fair that he could not tell us himself. Who put us to bed? Santa did? He would not fly unless he knew we were asleep?  I wonder...I wonder?

I became so inquisitive. I went on a Santa hunt.  I will always be sorry that I found the fruit under the bed (raisins have not taste the same since) and the gift
wrappers in Mamas' secret closet was a real give away.  My younger sister has never forgiven me.  Why?  She knew before I did but did not say, although the North star game with me she would always play, to get her presents every Christmas day.

Merry Christmas!

So long ago...memories of Christmas and my siblings cross my mind. I wonder if the children of now are making special memories in these hard times. Beautiful memory you have shared.

There is nothing worse than to stop believing in Santa, so I haven't...I still believe. Lovely memoir you have. Love and hugs, Bonnie
