We were all having fun.
A non-alcoholic party.
Good food,
great gifts,
three published professors,
PhD. types.  Good adult
conversation and then
I opened my mouth.

I don't talk about my
incarcerated husband anymore.
I don't want to cry.

I talked about my dogs.
Someone ask, what
is the puppy's breed?
Before I thought, I said,
I think a Pit Bull RAPED
a Labrador Retriever.

The party was quiet and over.
I went home to my dogs.
While driving, I chastised myself.
Another one for my counselor.
Why don't I keep my big mouth shut...

I could have told a childhood story,
but nooooo...I love my dogs,
China and Baby Buster.

That's what happens when you go to a non-alcoholic party. The problem is that PHD's don't know how to BS. (It's a rank issue)Patrick

It inspired you to write this piece so, it couldn't have been all bad.
Take it with a grain of salt and roll with the dogs, Louisa.
Happy New Year and may God bless.

you know I laugh at things others don't find so funny
& I also say things that others find offensive whereas it isn't intended to be...
dry humor cracks me up....alcohol or no alcohol...it is funny to me...
BUT...the word rape is still an ify word, some women never get over
as there may have been someone in your group whom suffered a rape...

But I see your humor :)
cute pupps

Dear Louisa, Your poem clearly expresses your spontaneous feelings at the moment. That's exactly what poems should be. In my view, feelings are the most important things in life. You are right for not crying, but you have to think about those absent. May this coming year bring salvation and love to your family. Your two dogs are good companions. Love Emile

Those 'educated types' sure need a lesson in humor, Louise. I think you taught them well. Doesn't matter the breed, or how they got here: you love them, and that's the most valuable lesson of all. =] Well done! Give China and Baby Buster a pat from me. =]

(((HUGS))) love and Happy New Year, Karla.
