Nothing To Write About

I guess we all have those writing lags occasionally, and this poem poured from such a mood a while back.

Nothing To Write About

I’ve totally run out of poetry ideas
Can’t think of anything to say
I’ve been wracking my sleeping brain
All through this long hot day.

Poetic words seem to escape me
No subject or topic can I surmise
Can it be I’m getting too old to think
And my poor old mind isn’t very wise?

There must be something to write about
The birds, the bees, the seasons, the rain
Awww heck, their stories have all been told
Disinterest seeps in like smothered pain.

Write about the pecans in their green shells
How they fall upon the ground
How the squirrels quickly grab them
So when I look not a one can be found.

Nahhh, try writing about the computer
The monitor screen lit up each day
With a beautiful ocean screensaver
Next to a little mouse that wants to play.

Heck, that’s no fun to write about
Stereo music grabs my attention most
I’ll just sit back on my fanny today,
And let my lazy mind just coast.

While listening to the pleasing sounds
Of Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Swans.

Now this is such a sweet write, so honest and down to earth, best part is it is real life, can't do better than that. I enjoy Brahms and Mozart as well, all good mood enhancers. Lovely, fantastic write....

Be safe,
Karen

Ahhh yes sounds like a great idea "listening to the pleasing sounds
Of Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Swans" mind swaying to all that music, for me it would be also swirling around with lots of colors...can't get them out of my mind. It is great to just sit back and just totally absorb more and more...letting the mind drift any which way it wants to!

A wonderful penning Jeanette...sending beautiful thoughts to you filled with an abundance of color.

Continued blessings always.
~Gwendolyn

I love the beautiful imageries you have painted here within my mind.

For having "Nothing to Write About," you sure wrote a lot! And in rhyme, no less: that's talent. Well done! Enjoyed this one, Jeanette, hope when my Muse shuts her mouth and gets all stubborn, something this wonderful flows from my pen. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Reading your delightful "Nothing To Write About" is not unlike watching a ferocious tennis match with a box score ending with Love/Love. Talk about misleading! How can there be nothing when clearly you have recounted such a frenzy of cerebral considerations?

Perhaps writers are related to the science of physics where we learn "Nature abhors a vacuum."

And Tchaikovsky? He moves us from the caress of graceful swans to the dazzling excitement of The Thunder and Lightning Polka. Oh, that was by Johann Strauss, wasn't it? Seems like I've just exposed I have nothing on my brain worth writing about.

This is where you show your uniqueness, Jeanette. There's absolutely nothing to write about, so you keep us tingling in suspense for 26 amusing lines that we all can relate to but can't quite bring to the surface in words.

Loved it!
Richard

If this is an example of nothing to write about - I can only hope I could write so well. You held my interest from the first to the last word. I like where your "lazy mind" coasted. Someone told me a long time ago - to quit trying so hard, it will happen [and it did for you]. Thank you for a loving and gentle reminder and a great poem.

I’ll just sit back on my fanny today,
And let my lazy mind just coast.

Sometimes, that can be very poetic, too!

I like his Nut Cracker Suite but I have these moments that last for a week and have found reading some different poets of long ago for inspiration and it usually works. Your poem shows how you can make something out of nothing and it is splendid example of your poetic talents.

Nothing to write about, Jeannette? Well, you sure wrote about it in a humorous way; and you packed a lot into this little "nothing of a poem". Writer's block, my foot! LOL Very well done; enjoyed this very much~ Thanks for sharing!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

You have written so well "about nothing". Even nothing is something when you are thinking about everything. This was great. Thanks a bunch.
Best regards, Chris

I know the feeling Jeanette, I'm sure we've all been there, but then inspiration strikes, and not always at the most convenient time, I find :)
Take care
