A Midnight Rendezvous’

With all the stories about special notes, cards and gifts…

I feel compelled to tell one more.

Only not a valentine’s sentiment…

No hearts, flowers, or even chocolates were attached…

A note just because…

Why you may ask,

To express on an ordinary day  “I love you…”

Tucked secretly inside a lunchbox…

Quickly scribbled on a paper napkin…

For a love that was true !

The note it simply read…

I’ll meet you tonight after work…

Bought a new perfume just for you…

A new gown of pink silk…

Waiting for your return home…

For a special midnight rendezvous’…

Well my dear…I’ll say no more,

Until then my love…let your imagination soar…

It would have been a great plan…

Only the napkin well…
it was intercepted by a friend…
at lunch instead…

Boy, was my husband’s face cherry red!!!

Keep in mind that my husband works at a coal mine, the note was intercepted by one of the big gruff men that he works with!

Joyce,

LOL! This is excellent! I'll bet he was proud, red and all!

I have dropped notes into Joe's shirt pockets or lunch, etc. for over 20 years...one day, I was shocked to discover, he had kept them all! They were in his workshop in the garage, in an old, huge mailbox box!! I TURNED RED...but as you can imagine, I was very pleased!

You can bet your bottom dollar, that secretly, your husband loved that those other miners wished they were in HIS blessed shoes!

Love&Joy!

Well, gruff he might have been, but green would have been his colour, truth to tell... both of your husband's gift of words and his gift of a wife who would appreciate such a pampering! Wonderful true story, thank you. And heartwarming, too. Guess all those red cheeks made an extra lump of coal on the fire somewhat unnecessary! TY K xx

ROF. That's like when I was a kid and my dad would travel. When he'd call home and I'd answer he'd say this is the police station, you're under arrest, or some such thing. One night he was out of town and the phone rng. Assuming it was he, I picked up the phone and said 'police station,' and I don't know who was more startled and embarrassed, I or the guy on the other end who was not my father.

Joyce,

This is so sweet. I can imagine the razzing he took but I'm sure he really didn't mind. This says alot about your feelings for each other. Never let love die my friend always keep it burning for each other in your hearts.

Coal mine, shoal mine!

"For only tender souls may touch
In magic born of heart
And dare to dream of times to come
When they're not far apart."

"For all we have in life is Love..."

I hate quoting one of my own poems, but truth is truth.
Be ever grateful, Joyce, for a man who loves you, a man
willing to show his love. Nothing's better for the soul
on Valentine's Day!

I don't enjoy more than someone catching a ribbing, but because his wife was feeling romatic? to a guy working in a mine? are you kidding me? Tha's a pair of shoes I don't want to wear.
But the poem was funny, well written even if an apology to hubby wasn't there to read.
Happy Valentine!!!!
