Poem Artwork

As the Lark is descending
Skies behind it are blending
Soon the dark will be upon us
Birds  sing their nesting chorus

The Moon will hear the Wolf  howl
The Barnyard owl goes on the prowl
Other night critters will come awake
Preparing for the search they'll make

It's their time now to seek for food
Many to feed their hungry brood
In this time when most folks sleep
Mysterious beings are on the creep

Bats come out to get their blood
Some from cows who are chewing cud
There are phantoms who can't be seen
skulking about seeing what they can glean

Angels and demons in this mix
Each of them  opening their bag of tricks
Hope you have the right one on your side
Or you may get a fiery  ticket to ride

Think of twenty-four hr day  split in two
Day or Night duality of nature shows through
Light or dark ,  right or wrong, good or bad
Life's yin/yang whether happy or sad!

You have so deeply touched me with this Eileen. I loved the picture. An owl is a powerful night creature. Life returns to it when dark falls upon. This is not only the best but the very best

Love the picture and the poem since I also love prowling around at night observing all the night critters.

Wonderful depiction of darkness falling and how the mystery of all it encompasses affects many things. You know I relate to that last stanza Eileen. Panda :)

Oh the snakes crawl at night, that's what they say, when the sun goes down...and I cant remember the rest, excerpt from that song by Charley Pride.
Funny how things come to mind! Excellent word play, and combining of nature and human reality, TY.
I'm in a stink mood today, this shelia stiffed my Son, he's 19, and very inoffensive young lad, rrrrraow, my claws are in need of retraction right now lol.
Hug to you Eileen.
Ch'erie...The Cherries are a bit sour today.

Eileen

The pendulum of life swings both ways....mysteriously and ever onwards...
A brilliant write that parodies the duality and paradox of existence..
I adore that owl graphic !

You take the animal kingdom and disect it in such a way, that if the reader is aware, he can pick up the same traits in humans. Hard to do, but this poem made that transformation . . . Least I thought it did.

A tribute, embodying the owl in juxtapose to that rare soul who see's beyond the ability of most to understand those things arcane in a light that illuminates the soul in a way that allows the creative mind to prosper.

Did you know that this creature has the respect of all birds, even the Bald Eagle?

I salute you Poet

Never rest your quill!

Eileen, dear one, you have a spirit resting on you that defies logic. Praise His Holy Name!
