I climbed up a giant oak tree so I could be up high, to sit and watch awhile as life and time goes by
As people scurry to and fro, the way they choose to live, and in the tree the birds and squirrels, what lessons can they give
The tree was nice and sturdy, the leaves still young and green, it wasn't long before the birds went back to their routine
I saw a beetle on a leaf and thought I soon would have to leave, the thought of creepie crawlies are not my cup of tea
Bugs hadn't come to mind before, now as I looked saw they're galore, ants busy as bees in this very active tree bugmunity
Then I saw a caterpillar amunching as it went who would belive the beauty of coming event wonder if it meant the crawler had to repent
Suddenly a bird flew near my face squawking others picked up the message all afluttering I saw there was a nest on a branch above
Knew my tree time was over as an intruder soon all would settle down with me not there the episode gave me some things to ponder
We never give thought when a tree comes down to all the creatures, a new home must be found we have a lot in common, with all life we are bound

Beautiful theme...the simple joys of nature are so often inconsequential to many without the realisation that there are eco-systems and life patterns that could teach us much if we would only take the time to watch and learn. As someone who's been called a tree hugger, I really love this piece, Tiger Lily. If people would just take the time to study trees once in awhile, as you obviously have; they, too, would soon see all the marvelous life that depends on them.
You've told a wonderful story with a great message...no, most do not think of a tree as housing so many of God's wonderful creatures, instead many pass it by giving no thought to the shelter, food, protection, and so much more that a single tree provides. I understand cutting trees is also a necessity of life, for our own homes, furniture, paper, etc. However, if we cut a tree we should be obligated or kind enough to plant one in to replace it....enjoyed this write, great message, great style, and simply beautiful!

ET, what a wonderful write! It's a little cold in our area to try this right now, but spring through autumn there is life galore. What a unique viewpoint! Excellent write.
A masterful write one that gives me pause to ponder and enjoy life as God planned it. The pic looks like a painting and then not but beautiful just the same.
I am not surprised that you, too ,are a tree climber. I grew up in an old Huckleberry Tree. Read many an adventurous book there too. We aren't just sisters...we're twins.

Absolutely delightful, Eileen. The picture reminds me of the trysting place of my hero and heroine in my book. Perfect in fact.
Blake would have loved this eye's view, Eileen, with its Auguries of Innocence and Experience. You share with him that special ability to see eternity in an hour, the universe in a grain of sand... and a sinner in a caterpillar! Yes, the co-dependence and intricacies of life... you wouldn't believe the whole eco-system I've just discovered in one of my top-shelf cake tins...!!
