Poem Artwork

This is for Christine, who likes rocks,;-)
I'm always intrigued by their diversity in form texture and color. Incidently precious stones is not covered in this write.
~~
Stop to think of rocks, and be amazed at
how much we take them for granted
we don't often read or write about them

We all have seen cobblestone roads
and admire homes and buildings made of
stone,  always fascinating,especially castles

Many of us who love the ocean, enjoy
watching waves crash against the rocks
I used to pick muscles from beds that cling
to rocks off New Jerseys Atlantic coast

Climbing rocky mountains is a challenge
that some of us have been  fortunate to
have conquered

Most likely as children you  had a stone
collection,and many adults continue to
add to theirs,it is a favorite hobby

Our Creator used the rock to describe
His apostle Peter,whose name(petra)
means rock, and said "Upon this rock I
shall build my church"

Pope Benedict is visiting America this week,
and a point of interest many don't know is
that on the very scripture I quote above,
in their opinion, gives the Catholic church
its legitimacy as God's true established church.

note: (I have no opinion one way or the other;-)

etw-2008

I thought I'd give a little info,I found online,   some which I hadn't known and it is quite enlightening.

"The three rock groups are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Anyone who wishes to collect rocks should become familiar with these three.
~~
The Earth is made of rock, from the tallest mountains to the floor of the deepest ocean. Thousands of different types of rocks and minerals have been found on Earth. Most rocks at the Earth's surface are formed from only eight elements (oxygen, silicon, aluminum, iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and sodium), but these elements are combined in a number of ways to make rocks that are very different.

Rocks are continually changing. Wind and water wear them down and carry bits of rock away; the tiny particles accumulate in a lake or ocean and harden into rock again. The oldest rock that has ever been found is more than 3.9 billion years old. The Earth itself is at least 4.5 billion years old, but rocks from the beginning of Earth's history have changed so much from their original form that they have become new kinds of rock. By studying how rocks form and change, scientists have built a solid understanding of the Earth we live on and its long history."

Fascinating Info, Tiger Lily. I had a marvelous rock collection when I was a kid, and I always loved finding the perfect rocks to skip across the surface of a pond or lake. I still do! And many a wondrous fossil has been found imbedded in an ancient rock.

Eileen, I as a nature lover...I have to tell you that there are times when I have actually stopped to study rocks and stones with my children...there is so much beauty to be found in everyday things that are all around us, and it is up to us to stop and appreciate it. Excellent writing...and the photos..gorgeous!

Rocks are creative in their patience. Rocks are energy too. My father always kept rocks in his pocket. I have a few favorites too. They sure are old too and they never stop growing. I love the educational flavor here Sis!

Keep these coming!
love and blessings!

Eileen:

This is a wonderful fun write and is a joy to read!

This one reminds me of the time we pick up rocks and stones from the beach. My eldest sister used to carry big rocks home from the beach and then put them in the center of the dining table as art piece decoration. It is so much fun just looking at the piece of rock and imagine what it represented to us in our minds.

The picture looks like before global warming then post global warming.

Kewl poem, tiggs, thing I can never get to grips with is that in my town there are churches who think the world is only 6000 years old. Hmm, makes petrol unique.

I understand the catholic view, as for the first 1500 years it steered the Christian church, until Henry VIII god fed up with his Mrs...

Yet the church is immaterial, it is ones own soul and spiro that matters. Christ died for everyone, not just a select few. Only big G knows.....

So our Christine likes them hard........ rocks...kewla....

Eileenk, excellent write, thanks. Just 7 miles south of here, we have the world famous Haystack Rock which is huge, old and beautiful. It is also a bird habitat which becomes home to countless species of birds that travel the shorelines of the Pacific Coast.

Cheers,
Dan
