We all know there are many mountains ,actually thousands and Mt Everest still the highest,but I couldn't possibly list them if you ever google mountains you wouldn't know where to start;-)Suffice it to say they are myriad and majestic !

I remember many years ago watching a film on tv,adapted from the book "Lost Horizons" by James Hilton. It left a lasting impression on me and later I also read the book. Strange how that was my introduction to a place that is much in the news today. Tibet!   A story best remembered as the origin of Shangri-La, a fictional utopian lamasery high in the mountains of Tibet.

The enchantment of this book also gave me a love for the mystery of mountains. When young I did a lot of reading (to keep up with my older sisters, both of whom were way ahead of me,one seven years the oldest 11 years.) after reading, I would always go off by myself and imagine I was the heroine in the book.   Haven't we all;-)

Fast forward to Yosemite,
Just a few years ago when there
In the mountains shrouded by mist
My thoughts filled with Shangri La
By enchanted fairies I was kissed
So majestic the sights around me
My spirits soared in mountain mystery

Creator's hand evident in all I see
Those who deny His work, baffle me
Tears of joy and graditude overwhelm
I pray we learn to care for  our realm
Give more thought to how we treat it
It is a gift to us we should appreciate
One that we could never hope to re-create

If we could visualize earth as our Shangri La
we wouldn't  do things to abuse it !
