Poem Artwork

As the Lark is descending
Skies behind it are blending
Soon the dark will be upon us
Birds  sing their nesting chorus

The Moon will hear the Wolf  howl
The Barnyard owl goes on the prowl
Other night critters will come awake
Preparing for the search they'll make

It's their time now to seek for food
Many to feed their hungry brood
In this time when most folks sleep
Mysterious beings are on the creep

Bats come out to get their blood
Some from cows who are chewing cud
There are phantoms who can't be seen
Skulking about seeing what they can glean

Angels and demons  are also in this mix
Each of them  opening their bag of tricks
Hope you have the right one on your side
If not, you may get a fiery  ride

The  twenty-four hr day is split in two
Day or night the duality shows through
Light or dark ,right or wrong, happy or sad
Life is a dichotomy  whether good or bad !

So different than what I imagined this poem would be about, but it had me nodding my head and smiling. It flows so smoothly and softly.

a very pleasurable analogy Eileen -- written in your elegant, silky blending style -- in the light of darkness mystery resides and life flourishes -- peace and love to you --JMW

Enjoyed this poem, ET ~ I especially like the admonition about having the "right one on your side." I love it when a poem speaks directly to the reader.

White good, black bad. Night bad, light good. For some creatures, the night is just right. For us, it becomes scary.

Happy Halloween!

I need to read this twice, because I had a mighty suspicion that you had wrote more than the eyes were reading.
Then I got it, disgased as a poem was your knowledge of the dark side which a virginal vestal wearing white shouldn't have.
ET, now I get why they call you Tiger Lily and should we meet in one of those dark places you mention will be a chilling pleasure.

ET,
yes, yes, all the things that move and creep and go bump in the night...well expressed and just a little frightening.
