Dysfunctional Poetry

Something went wrong in the making. My apologies to the readers. ;-)

I am twisted;
a poem that says no.
My lines not ready to answer
the reader's angsty questions
.

Without rhyme or treason,
I'm words that make no sense:
lost their arbitrary meaning
crushed by an asteroid of dust.

Static signs or stains on paper,
laid down before the rain,
wiped out by drops from a sky
that's in the author's eyes.

I used to be semantic play -
                   grammatically perfected -
                   horizontally shot arrow-words,
                   organized from left to right.

Within a proper shape
I could have told you lies,
and should have done my duty
by soothing your dismay
.

Instead, I got it all wrong;
misdirected from the start
by incompetence, irreverence,
leaving me confused and useless.

I'm a rhetoric accident
a mirror of your void,
I'm drifted, incomplete.

I like this poem Axilea. I like disorder and confusion, I like mess....this is nice. But I like many of your other poems as well. I enjoy your writing. Best wishes for the season...S

Hi Axilea! I read your poem "Dysfunctional Poetry". I found it to be one of the best I have ever read. It is written in a style I myself, like. Please check out my poetry at either,www.freewebs.com/kendoo or
here in the "Den".

I read this "Dysfunctional Poetry" better without the first and the last stanzas. They don't add anything to the poem. The second to sixth strophes make it better in every poetic feature and meaning.

In admiration,

I think this doesn't say a lot about poetry, but about life. This is written in a manner that demonstrates the chaos in one's life and the choice of living or dieing. I could have gotten it all wrong, but this is what came to mind as I read this amazing poem.

God bless you. Kathy

Interesting critic of your own work but as writers and poets we tend to be our own worst. I think none of your works are in the least dysfunctional on the contrary you know what you are saying and if we grasp that is a bonus, if we read into thems onthing that is not there but helps us than that is a bonus too...write and be true to your muse, that is what poetry is.

Awesome--poor poem! You can take all the words and put them in a towel and toss them up in the air. Let's see where they land--an "and" over here--"drifted" drifted over there. "Semantic" is in the Atlantic, and "proper" never came down. Whatever. A poem's a poem--who cares which way the words lie? (or is it lay?) --Fragmented fancies. Wasn't it Browning who said something to the effect that he only could tell halve truths, and let the readers make up the rest of the story. --Charlie

Dysfunctional I have always been,
Though for a poet its not a sin,
The only thing we all can do is win,
As long as the reader gets from me a grin...(you too)
