'Tis the season
For counting my blessings,
A singularly undaunting task
For I am so very blessed:
I have family
Who love me,
Despite my being
Radically different
From their norm;
And I have a home,
A humble roof
Over my head
For when
The cold rains fall;
Then there are
My friends who,
On first blush,
Don't seem to be
Many in number,
But when I consider
Each kind face
I meet each day
I realize
How many friends
I can actually call
My very own,
And although there are
Issues, the fact is
I still enjoy
Relatively good health.
So as the season unfolds
I will endeavor
To remind myself
That all these things
Are just the beginning
Of an ongoing list,
And give thanks
To the One,
And the other ones,
Who so generously
Give it all to me.
It is said that we can only have four or five true friends in our lifetime. Therefore it's good to be thankful for the few we have and how well they treat us.
